newegg lists some as being compatible
when i build my am2 it looks the same
as a 939 but heard some things that
make me wonder so before i buy
anyone know of any for sure ones?

Freezer 64 Pro over at chiefvalue where it is for about $23.99 shipped. Cheapest solution IMHO (almost as cheap as the AMD's stock cooler on sale at heatsinkoutlet.com for $18.99 shipped).
 
Freezer 64 Pro FTW indeed. Got one in my 2.66 GHz AM2 system, and it idles in the mid 30C range and loads in the low 40s.
