AM2 and HD playback

What speed of Athlon64 X2 CPU would I need to playback HD video unassisted by the video card?

my HTPC has onboard video with an x2 5600 (2.8ghz) and it plays 1080P with no hiccups.

My x2 3800 @ 2.6ghz does the job fine, i believe its fine all the way down to 1.9ghz (underclocked)

depends on the chipset, if its the 780g then a low CPU speed should still be fine since that chipset offloads much of the work

I believe the consensus was a 2.2GHz C2D is enough for 1080p without any GPU assist. Add 15~20% for Athlon X2.
