Are all Lou Malnati's equal? I see that it is a chain.

Local chain. They do FedEx too , along with Carson's Ribs and Eli's Cheesecakes, and Vienna Hot Dogs

GIordano's is also very good, known mostly for the Pan Pizza (Nancy's won the contest, but I prefer Giordano's to Nancy's).

Superrosa is really good too ... NorthWest Side.

I've never like Uno's or Due's ... Yuppie crap, Though Dion's and myPi was similar but tastier, IMHO

CPOG pizza is made upside-down, in a suffle cup, with the crust on teh top. They bring it to your table, dump the contents into the cup-shaped crust ... really good, somewhat unusual but very tasty. They have a cinnamon crisper thing for snack / desert tothat was pretty good to ... can't remember what they call it

I will have to consult my colleague, but I think I am leaning thin crust.

You're in Chicago, granted we have good thin but there is nothing like Chicago Style Deep Dish in the city. It's a must have, so I highly suggest that.

There are several Chicago pizza chains. Malnati's, Giordano's, Gino's, etc.. are all local chains.
Quality in my experience has been pretty uniform.

If you want something really unique come into the city and go to Pequod's or Home Run Inn (south side location).

My favorite place is called Pequods on Clybourn at Webster. Their pan pizza has a crust that is all black on the outside (looks burnt) but it's actually caramelized cheese. So ridiculously delicious. Other obvious choices would be Lou Malnatis, Geno's, and Giordanos. If you are near north > north side definitely go for the Pequods, otherwise you can google the locations of the other places to find a store local to you. Report back with your choice and how you liked it!

Varified by the first google result.

(A few of them at least.)

Pat's is fantastic for thin crust pizza. Baccino's is also good for thin crust. But seriously, if you get thin crust over deep dish then you're not a real human being.

OH ! OH! OH! damn! I ALMOST forgot to tell you about Perry's Deli ...

Massive sandwiches (like Manhattan Triple-Deckers) really, really, really good (like New Yawk) and cheap, especially for downtown.

Be warned though, *No* Cellphone usage inside .. they have a painful siren they play when they see someone on a cellphone. The signs on the wall read" IF you're important enough to need to use your phone while dining, you probably need a more classy place " ... something like that .. no kidding, don't use a cellphone.

Perry's is North of Randolph on Franklin (or is it North of Franklin on Randolph? I forget)

And is the pizza really $75 tasty for 4 shipped?

It's pretty good pizza, I get it delivered for $20 (small pan). $75.00 would be more of a "special treat" status for someone out of state that's tried it and wants more.

Other than that, I don't think so.

But! If you're into FedEx food, check out Corky's Barbecue out of Memphis. I send a gift pack to my Mom a couple times a year because there just ain't much in the way of 'Q in Lansing MI.

FWIW

Perry's is on Franklin between Lake and Randolph.

The cell phone rule is also why you see about 2 women in the place and the rest guys. Women get really angry when they use the buzzer...

And yes the size of the sandwiches defy imagination.

We ended up at Gino's East tonight and loved it.

Platypus: I truly meant to PM you my cellphone number, but by the time I remembered to do so, we were half way into the city. After working this conference all day, we were ready anxious to hit the road. Hopefully next time!

yeah, Gino's East is good, but I went to Giordanos the other day just because it's 2 blocks from me. I'll probably end up at Gino's East one of these days.

Wasn't cheap.

Two small, deep-dish pizzas, one as-is and one with two extra toppings, and one beer = $51 before tip.

No big deal, that's what my per diem is for 😛 I'll be with auto show people whenever the time comes, so it's not like any of us are afraid to pay a little extra.

mmmm, pizzaaaaaaaaa...I had a PB&J for breakfast today, McD's for lunch and then a Whole Foods panini for dinner. 🙁 The good news is that I spent a total of like $13 today 😛
