You're not cheap. Your friends are jealous of your ability to manage your money, and they express it by calling you cheap. I never understood why some people thought the two were connected, because they aren't.

Don't worry, when you get out of school you won't have to deal with your freeloading friends as much.

I keep a close eye on my money, but I'm glad to pick up the check when out with friends who might be in a bind. I have to demand that they let me pay sometimes, and I bet your friends expect it. Just consider the possibility that your friends are mooches.

Sounds to me like you have things pretty well under control. Be proud of those standards. They will serve you well.

you may have things under control, but are you happy? I spent $5000 on a off road vehicle to toy around with even though we couldnt really afford it and I am more than happy i made that decision. Sure, i could have invested it and made a 10% ROI, but I wanted to have fun. It isnt much fun to look at statements at the end of the quarter. To each, his own.

actually i am pretty darn happy except for the fact some people are determined to make me broke. :(

i'm happy to pay off my credit card statements every month in full because that means i've worked hard enough for everything i've purchased. happy to know that if i want to go buy something i want i can actually look in my checking account "hmm looks like i have enough money" go out and get it and not worry about having to pay any interest because i couldn't pay off my credit card.

Well, that isnt my cup of tea. I dont mind looking at my CC bill and seeing 13 cents worth of interest accumulate. I dont mind dropping $500 to take my girlfriend off on a long weekend. Its relaxing and its enjoyment, which is what life is about, not seeing how much money you can horde by the time you die.
