I was sitting here looking at pics of the new Civic Si, drooling at its awesomeness, when a thought popped into my head. Am I too old for a car like this? My wife insists that the next car I buy will have to have four doors for any kids down the road, but I am not so sure I am ready to give up coupes.
My current car is a 1996 Ford Escort 2-door hatchback that I have owned for six years, and is my first and only car I've ever owned.
Thing is, my car goes completely against my personality. I have been obsessed with cars since I was old enough to speak. (My mom has stories of me staring out the window on trips spouting "car! car!" over and over.) Until I was about 12 my dream job was a car carrier driver, and I have a collection of Dodge Viper memorabilia containing over 500 cars. My wife does not understand my obsession. She thinks cars are just for going from point A to point B.
I know in my heart that I NEED something fun and "cool" (to myself at least) and that has power/punch in it. My budget is limited to around the $20K mark give or take a few K. The Civic Si seems to be the shoe-in for the total package of what I want in a car, but will I look like a wanna-be ricer?
Any other options? And how do I convince my wife that a Honda Accord is not gonna cut it for me?
