Am I the only suffering from hard drive head parking with snow leopard ?

So i installed snow leopard and i like it alot , everything is faster and i like some of the minor new features it added but i have one problem, my hard drive is making a click noise which im 100% sure is the head parking every 6 seconds.

Everyone has a different opinion on weather it affects hard drive life or not but one thing is for sure , that click sound is annoying as hell! did do it with leopard, so why now ?

i googled around and i found this program called clunkiller:

http://thireus.dareyourmind.ne...ard-drive-clunk-noises

it seems to work for me so far but im concerned wether using that program is worse than actual head parking every 6 seconds.

Thought i'd as for your opinions on here

What kind of system is it?
What brand of hard drive is it?
Did you install this hard drive yourself (not saying you screwed anything up, just checking).

I've noticed that SL is much more aggressive with turning the hard drives off. It's a little excessive on my hackintosh desktop (5 hard drives) as I have to wait for all the hard drives to spin up if I leave it for a while.

Well, there goes that theory.

I know that some WD laptop hard drives have onboard motion sensors. I also know that all Apple laptops made in the last like... 5 years+ have had motion sensors on the logic board. I have heard that there can be a conflict between these WD drives and the onboard SMS. But since you have a seagate drive...

2007? Maybe the drive is about to go. I think that is about the right time for it. I will wait for Tyranicus to chime in since he has better recall for these sorts of things.

I can't tell you for sure because I don't have time to look up the numbers, but it's entirely possible that your drive is about to fail. Quite a few Seagate drives in the MacBooks and MacBook Pros were faulty and ended up dying long before they should have. It happened to the drive in my first MacBook Pro.

its possible because i looked up my hd model and people complained about them failing left and right but the thing is i haven't had any problems with it, it worked flawlessly with leopard and if i install clunkiller the problem goes away.
