I hate their music, i mean, i hate it all. Id rather listen to 50cent do a remake of beloved patriot tonk blues.... Anyone else feel this way?

I wouldn't use the word "hate" but I am not a fan of U2. I do not own any of their music and I change the radio whenever any of their music is on.

Oh please. U2 has been popular long before Apple used them in a commercial.

Isn't that what I said?

It just seems that people who wern't fans before, are only fans now because Apple is pushing them as 'cool'.

You think? I believe it's the opposite. Many people feel it's cool to diss U2 because of the Ipod spot. I've been a fan of U2 since their first album. I've seen hundreds ofbands live, many considered Superstars and U2 ranks right up there as far as their performance goes. Bono is one hell of a showman!

Well congratulations, you don't fit into the group I was talking about. :cookie:

Supafly, answer me this... what is wrong with being popular?

Did I say there's anything wrong?

There's a difference in people liking a band because they heard their music and enjoyed it, and seeing a commercial, become a drooling ipod fan, and only like U2 because it's the cool thing to do now that they have an ipod. If Apple thinks its cool, its gotta be.
Lol, anybody who thinks something is cool because of a commercial is a knuckle dragger.

A lot of people are like me. You might like the song at first but when the Airwaves are saturated by it you tend not to like it anymore. Back in the 70's that happened to me with Led Zepplin. I loved their first 2 albums but when they became extremely popular the airwaves were saturated with their songs and I tired of them. Luckily as time went on I was able to enjoy their other stuff because I didn't hear it every 5 minutes.

BTW, U2 is definately not at the hieght of it's popularity. Back in the early 80's they were the king of the charts and were overplayed, so much so that they were starting to get tiresome for me. Same thing with the Police, Bruce Sprinsteen, the Doobie Brothers (in the 70's) and so on.

Their new stuff just seems like cookie cutter sh|t. I really liked some of their older stuff. Sunday Bloody Sunday is a great song.

The fact that they merge politics with music annoys me to no end, but their old stuff was good enough I could ignore it...their new stuff is of lesser quality and thus the annoyance factor eclipses the music.

That, and bono is such a fvcking tool. He stretches the very limits of human toolage with his very existence.

By actually making a difference in peoples lives, most who have never even have heard of U2? We need more tools like that in the world today.

I can listen to New Year's Day and Sunday Bloody Sunday, but that's about it. Something about Bono's voice grates on me.

Great, put that in a newspaper or something. I don't feel like grooving to a tune about starving people while I'm cruizing around in my neon. Its sort of a downer. And I already get plenty of those.

A lot of people (from Eminem to U2 to Rage Against the Machine) put politics into music, they write what they feel... there's nothing wrong with that. I like it when people are passionate about things.

A good reason for you not to listen to their music but it doesn't make Bono a tool.

U2's songs have always been about current topics of the day. They haven't changed that way. Now I can understand why someone doesn't want to hear that stuff and might not like them because of it.

As for his activities outside of the Music World, I think he's great. I'd rather read about that than the Gallagers of Oasis getting there asses kicked again in a drunken brawl. Well that's not really true, I kind of enjoy reading about those idiots getting their asses kicked in drunken brawls😉

Yeah, honestly who doesn't like hearing about the gallagers getting their asses kicked?

It doesn't bother me that he does a lot of charity work outside of his music, that is great. It certainly beats the average rappers plan of blowing all his money on a fleet of 40 cars he'll never drive and then going bankrupt. But I just think its a crummy topic for music itself to be about. There's so much crap going on in the world, in the news constantly some murder or rape, or genocide, wars, etc...when I turn on the radio, I don't want to hear any more about that. I don't need that stuff set to music. I'm pissed off enough while driving as is.

Give me this though: His sunglasses are pretty stupid right?

U2 is far from the worst band out there, but they just don't interest me much...at least not their newer stuff.

Isn't looking stupid part of the deal? Just look at all the Rappers and techno dorks like Moby

It's cool, like what you want. Like I said earlier I can understand why some people don't like them and your reasons are as good as any.

Oh please... I can't stand them... Not only can't I stand them, but their music is pretty terrible and I can't stand the fact that everyone just LOVES them...

It's kinda like Usher. Can't stand him either and noone else seems to share that view.

It's a Beautiful Day

The heart is a bloom, shoots up through stony ground
But there's no room, no space to rent in this town
You're out of luck and the reason that you had to care,
The traffic is stuck and you're not moving anywhere.
You thought you'd found a friend to take you out of this place
Someone you could lend a hand in return for grace.
It's a beautiful day, the skyfalls
And you feel like it's a beautiful day
It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away

You're on the road but you've got no destination
You're in the mud, in the maze of her imagination
You love this town even if it doesn't ring true
You've been all over and it's been all over you

It's a beautiful day, the skyfalls
And you feel like it's a beautiful day
It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away

Touch me, take me to that other place
Teach me, I know I'm not a hopeless case

See the world in green and blue
See China right in front of you
See the canyons broken by cloud
See the tuna fleets clearing the sea out
See the bedouin fires at night
See the old fields at first light
See the bird with a leaf in her mouth
After the flood all the colours came out
It was a beautiful day
A beautiful day
Don't let it get away

Touch me, take me to that other place
Reach me, I know I'm not a hopeless case

What you don't have you don't need it now
What you don't know you can feel it somehow
What you don't have you don't need it now
You don't need it now, you don't need it now
Beautiful day

Well, I don't know about rather listening to 50cent, but yeah.. don't care for them at all.
