I'm 30 years old and have never had the chicken pox. At 11 or 12 my sister had them and I touched them in the hopes of getting them as well so I could miss school. No go.. Now as I get older I hear the later in life that you get it, the worse it feels, and in some rare cases it can be fatal.

Has anyone here been given the vaccine for it? I'm wondering if I should do it.

I got chicken pox when I was 3 months old... I still have the scars on my body 26 years later.

If you are an adult and have never had chicken pox, you better be REALLY DAMN CAREFUL around those who have it and are contagious. Adult onset chicken pox is LIFE THREATENING!!!

If you happen to be immune, then good on ya, mate!

I'd like to know more about chicken pox... Why does it seem that everyone gets it? where does it come from? and why can you only get it once? (twice if you suck) ?

Wierd stuff...

Just go get the vaccine. As you already know, those "childhood diseases" can be life-threatening if you get them as an adult.
