Am I the only one experiencing this IE 6 bug?

I tend to surf sites simultaneously....and periodically, I have this annoying bug that occurs while using IE 6 within XP. Basically, the error occurs when I have more than one instance of IE started. For example I'll start IE and go to google, then open IE again and go to anandtech. Next I'll go to the google window, and from the tool bar, travel to another site via my favorites...but the fricken site will open up on the anandtech page...this is really annoying...

Anyone ever have this prob before?

Okay...i isolated when exactly the problem occurs. I put several folders of links into the links folder under favorites so that I could have them as a separate toolbar in IE. Its only when I select the sites throught that route (which is most convenient). If i type the addy in the address bar or select them through the Favorites Menu, its fine...what could be causing this?

woops...guess I was being kinda lazy..i assumed i had the sp1 added already because I've kept fairly current w/ windows updates..but that one hasn't been included on the windows update page...

I'll try it out...thanks for the helpful response/reminder..

some links open the pages in a new browser window others open in the same one if you have two windows open and on on browser you click a link that saya open this link in a new browser it will use the already open 2nd browser window. to alleviate that hold shift when you click links.

no no no...this isn't what i'm talking about...I was worried everyone would assume this...but you are right about me not wanting a lobotomy. Actually, to be fair and in case others unfamiliar are interested, mozilla is a snazzy little browser as well. But I'm interested in finding out whats going on w/ this IE prob for various reasons...

Anyways, to reiterate, I'm talking about completely separate instances of IE...again, i've discovered it only occurs through my customized links folder which i use as a toolbar for greater convenience...

My IE 6 bug is that it crashes constantly. Even after a completely fresh install of the OS and IE 6 :(

Why use 6 (unless it's tied to the os install)?

I can't remember the last time 5.5 crashed in win2k

2K was installed 16wks 1day 20hrs 25mins 57secs ago, to C:\WINNT Uptime: 1w 9h 8m 45s

Because I can't seem to uninstall it  I'm trapped, and it is Ameesh's fault ;)

Once my deadlines have passed I will reformat everything and make sure to avoid it.

It's strange, win2k was very stable but once I installed IE6 the browser will randomly crash and then tries to send error reports. Somethimes 2-3 times and hour. Nothing else crashes.

This looks very cool...even has an integrated pop up killer...what's your review on it...anyone else using this?

I experienced poor performance when running it under w2k as well although not to the degree you're describing. Seem to have more luck under XP with the exception of this picky glitch I have. I'm trying to find out if I can consistently duplicate this bug across platforms, unfortunately, I don't currently have access to another XP box..
