Was there a moderator discussion and consensus on Red's vacation/banning? Per earlier posts those are the rules for handing out discipline. Seems like it happened awful fast for there to have been any sort of gathering of the mods to discuss it before it was handed down.

I thought that any mod could vacation for a week or two lengthier punishment was up to higher ups and perma-bans were discussions. Since he wasn't permaed (I dont think) then Perk should be allowed to use his own discretion to vacation him. AFAIK that was how it was laid out. Could be wrong.

Personally, I am really amazed this thread lasted past the first or second post. I wonder why it hasn't been shut down?
 
I'd like to chime in on the side of 'this has gotten out of control'. Lock the thread and move on while hopefully hitting the ban/vacation reset button along the way.
 
odd. A member that pretty much pissed everyone off most of the time; most members couldn't figure out why he was never perma-banned before....and yet his ultimate ban has precipitated this kind of fury.

I only feel like responding to this, because I have nothing better to do. One of the outlines that mods & admins try to follow is to bold their text when speaking as mods & admins. It's a hold over from simpler times when almost kn one knew who the mods were, and the member & mod were separate accounts. Now, mods are not allowed to use the AnandTech Moderator account, so there is no way to create a reply post to a thread without a mod using their personal account. When a personal account is also a mod account, it can be difficult to tell when a mod is posting as a mod, and when a mod is posting as a member, hence the bold.
