This thread needed some intentional humor.

I like to write humorously, true. But I'm actually serious. I'm not going to go begging via email, but if he sees it and decides to act on it, I'm game.

Who better to Moderate than:

a. Someone who doesn't know any Mods
b. Someone who many times has tested the waters (patience) and has learned his lesson ():)
c. Someone who can't "live on the forums" due to having a real life

I'd give it a shot. Though most of the current Mods would rather shoot me than give me a shot. Bwuahahaha! I made a funny! As Morpheus so succinctly put it: "Than I am thankful...that it is NOT up to you..."

For what it's worth (most likely nothing), I've always thought Perknose was either a bi-polar nutjob, or an alcoholic.

If either are the case it shouldn't be made fun of.

My ex wife was bi-polar and it is a helluva thing to go through. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I am more of a democratic person. I think we need yearly terms for mods and admins and they can only be reappointed once (so two terms). I also think the appointing should be done either by Anand (it is his site) or by the forum members as a whole.

Call me crazy but that's what i think.

And no i dont have anything against any current (or former) mods, admins, etc.

That's a lot of work. I prefer the pick once, pick right approach. There's too many people that are "pretty cool guys", but wouldn't make a good mod. Doing it right requires a long vetting process, and that's all the forums would be doing by the time everyone gave their opinion. The sole function of AT would be picking mods. By the time one was instated, the new election term would be up again. Rinse, repeat...

Yeah except pick once and pick right doesn't work long term. People change, shit happens, things need to change at some point.

TO ANAND,

Hi there. From what I can see, you're about to fire your entire Moderator Staff. As a long-time member, user and sometimes abuser of your awesome forums I feel I'm well-qualified to be a Mod. I'm not even close to as angry as I used to be about life in general, am thick-skinned and would dole out the whippings fairly and evenly. I've been banned, unbanned, vacationed, smacked around, etc. I know my way around your forums and the people who frequent here.

More importantly, I don't know any Mods in person, nor do I "hang out" with them online. I'm a complete outsider. For full disclosure: I have a full-time job and a family at home. I would browse through the forums assigned to me on a daily basis but couldn't do it "full time."

I'm here if you need me.

Sincerely,
MichaelD

TO ANAND-

With regard to the recent job application you may have received from MichaelD, I feel I must weigh on on this man's character. Not only is he a known molester of hamsters, he has been deported more than once for "conduct unbecoming a Texan". The CIA file is heavily redacted but mentions several species of goats, Cool-Whip, and an unnamed minor league rugby team.

In short, he is a scalawag and a degenerate and should be removed from consideration for modship of ATOT.

Sincerely,
Fausto

PS- I want my fucking chaps back. It's been three months.

??? How can you tell?

EDIT:

Ah, no avatar I'm guessing.

I'm wondering the same thing. If they are banned, why does it show them still active (green light) and list their current activity in their public profile.

Is it just lag?

Problems need to be dealt with internally. If the fear is the whole organization is corrupt, then that's a good signal to just leave.

There are very few positions in the AT heirarchy that cannot/won't change. Anand/Derek come to mind immediately. I'm sure there are one or two others. But for the most part I think Mod positions should be periodically reviewed. There are different layers of Mods here.

Moderator - can issue warnings, lock threads but can't vacation or ban(mod with training wheels)
Super Moderator - can ban without consulting anyone (AFAIK)

I think I need to delete my avatar, so in case someone wants to ban me, they might think I was already banned.

LOL! Hey, I resemble that remark! Um...er...:sneaky:

I just went through my periodic reinvestigation and the men in the black choppers didn't say anything about my sexual preferences or my food fetishes. I haven't sold any state secrets or said anything bad about our awesome president (lately) so if I'm good with them...

ps
The rugby team is a WOMEN'S college rugby team...and most of them are over 18. I think.

Not saying they cant or wont change, im just saying it needs to happen more regularly and scheduled. And maybe not once a year, but i dont think it should be more then two, people get butt hurt on the internet and need time off.

a loss of avatar simply means a vacation.

they are only banned when you see the word "Banned" as their membership status.

So Red Dawn was vacationed for simply defending himself to some accusations? Not only that, but all he got as a response was "all you said is a twisted lie"?

Is this really how situations are dealt with here?

Can we kill this thread yet? It isn't going anywhere all it is really doing is drawing out the people who either have something against the forum or disagree with how it is run. I honestly don't think this is the place to discuss this.

oh well, i give up here at least.
