Agree to disagree I guess.

And again, she was THINKING about passing along information.

Thought crime.

I don't agree with the mod actions in this instance, but I'm not gonna get excited about it either. I'll just note it, and file it away. My moderation style is to always err on the side of freedom. Keeping a forum from devolving into 4chan is my only goal. Otherwise people can moderate themselves.

Keeping dossiers on certain members

Rifling through said members PM's

Banning said members for thought crimes

i think everyone has a natural curiosity to read something they technically aren't supposed to.

some will just read it and leave it at that, others who do suck will try to use that info for something

Its called being ethical.

I think it's well-known now, it was more than just thoughts.

It is bullshit the same few think they are beyond the rules here and that the mods "owe" them.

Really?

We only have ONE SIDE to the story.

How fortunate for some, that the accused are BANNED and cannot tell their side.

Yeah because the mods just totally fabricated the story.

If you believe that WTF are you still posting here for?

Why stop there? Let's just assume that there were no PM's and that they only THOUGHT of making the PM.

easy now...it's one thing to mock something when people are down, but nick hasn't been banned [yet?], so that's not fair [yet?]. :p

Seriously tho, the bans are very unfortunate, and nick just has mosh's back, so there's no need to get personal.

Fwiw, when the mods have had enough of it, I'd prefer to see a lock before one of them takes something personally and considers any additional bans.

Read what I wrote in this thread, you will see why they banned her for even just discussing the possibility of disseminating the info. You will see why they targeted her PM's to rifle through.

Also, you will see why I'm probably going to be banned. Speaking out against the decisions of our overlords is not highly regarded :awe:
Yeah, pretty much. I have been banned for some truly ludicrous reasons. What is even the point of the "Moderator Discussion" forum? You can't even reason with them. Might as well just shut that functionality down...

The mods HAVE lied about reasons for a member banning before..
The mods HAVE shot from the hip for bannings before..

It has happened to me.

I don't believe a damn thing they say as truth.

Trust me... when it comes to certain members... the mods will do anything to ban them.

This.

It is unfortunate that Mosh was banned...given her history and activity here, especially given the circumstances? This is ridiculous.

Personal feelings have no place in policing. When power is used for personal gain, freedom is lost. See USA

So they can feel important when you grovel at their feet because some of them have absolutely nothing in their lives outside of these forums.

Dude. It's an internet forum. Not like real life or anything.

I understand everyone's outrage and all. But maybe I'm just getting too old to give a shit about such things.

Yeah because the mods just totally fabricated the story.

They lied in their announcement.

Fact.

What do you expect them to say?

"We rifled through the PM's of members who we have dossiers on and found that one of them TALKED about POSSIBLY disseminating the info, so that member has been dealt with."

Ha. Yeah right.

Apparently spread what she saw in the mod forum.

6 month ban, and has to beg for reinstatement after answering questions from a panel of mods after 6 months. Similar to theflyingpig's ban.

She wont do it, shes gone forever. Which is what the mods have wanted for a long time anyway, so I guess they got her.

This makes me sad. Not that I know any of the "regulars" on this forum very well, but Mosh has been here forever and her presence and whit is appreciated it any thread she appears in.

I know the mods won't, but I hope they reconsider. Important members like Mosh are part of what make this community fun and interesting place and their removal changes the community. These forums have been changed too much by the mods recently and I am disappoint.

GA was kind of a jerk, his ban I'm not particularly surprised or ruffled about.
