I sold my digital camera on Ebay and shipped it using CanadaPost's XpressPost delivery service (I'm in Canada and the winning bider is also in Canada).

The winning bidder hasn't received the item and the tracking information shows nothing but the item has received at the postal office. In other words, the item just disappeared from that point.

Well, that was two month ago and I've gone through some processes which hasn't resolved anything. CanadaPost still doesn't know where the item went and what happened to it. I assume it's been stolen by the worker at the local postal office.

The problem is that the item is insuranced only for $100 even though it's a $600 item.
I know I should've put more insurance on it but $100 was the maxium insurance amount.

Anway, is there anything that I can do to get more money than $100? Or Am I just talking about the impossible?

If you don't pay for the extra insurance its your fault. Its what, 5$ for extra coverage? Foolish IMO.

Anyway, they have to find your package, or at least give some kind of reasonable explaination as to its whereabouts. I've had a few items show up extremely late, so it might be stuck behind a shelf. Either way get them to mark it to be returned to you if found, just in case things go awry.

I didn't even have option to put that extra insurance. $100 was the maxium insurance amount I could have.

Not true, you need to ask and then pay for more. I recently sent some stuff to the US via XpressPost with 200$ insurance, it was something like 2$ for the extra 100$.

Sorry about your luck though.

$100 is the standard amount you have at no extra charge; you can increase coverage quite it bit for a small fee.

oh man.... sorry this happened to you but you really shouldn't have shipped it in the manner that you did if the company that delivered for you would not insure it for more than $100. I would have gone with another company.

This is an expensive learning lesson for you. :(

Its right on the Canada post site - extra insurance is $0.75 per $100 to a max of $5000 insured.

So by being a cheap ass and saving $3.75 it cost you $500. Live and learn ;)
