according to a bus driver who sideswipped my car this morning I am! I was in a right turning lane, he was in a left. He was taking a right (couldn't see his signal cause I was right beside him), and when he cut into my lane failing to look for any cars he rubbed my sideview mirror. Only like $100 damage or something. He stopped and asked "What are you doing A$$hole?" to which I replyed asking him if he wanted to pay for it. He had the gall to say he should write me up. LOL I was in mY lane he cut into my frigging lane! Needless to say I wasn't going to take that, so I'm now awaiting the local transit company to call me back so we can get a payment scheme sorted out for reimbursing me for repairs. If they give me any flak I'll mention how I didn't appreciate being called an A$$hole, since technically it is illegal isn't it? Not that I personally give a damn, but this guy was a real jerk.

Its actually so minor that if I never see any money I won't bother getting it fixed - its a new car but pretty small rubbing of paint - but it will still cost some money to fix, and this guy had a very poor attitude, plus its my mother's car I'm borrowing for a year so I suppose I should get it looked at.

They should pay to completely fix the car and reprimand the driver.

If nothing else the Transit Company should know about the bus drivers attitude. He's not a very good represenative for them.

It's an Acura, right?

Just slap a Japanese character over the scratch and you should gain 5 MPH! :p

Seriously though, if you were ALREADY THERE then you should talk to the transit company about the driver's driving and attitude. They need to know that they have these road raging bus drivers out there.

No. If you felt that he was going to hit you (imminent threat) then it could be assault. But there are few laws protecting you from being insulted.

Well he wasn't going to hit me :) I do agree though now that with speaking to a friend that on top of the repair cost they should know that he uses language like this in front of a busload of people. Very very bad representative for their company. He is probabaly regretting it now. He'll regret it more when he finds out that I called the transit company. He was probabaly trying to intimidate me into not calling but unless somebody is threatening to kill me intimidation only eggs me on.

Now we know where those HARTLine drivers go when they retire here.

Well I'll let you guys know, had a hard time tracking down the right people today, and I did but he was at lunch and it seemed like he was all day grr. So tomorrow I'll walk into their offices if I can't get a straight answer. The bus driver shall pay!!! He'll never be behind the wheel of a bus again!!

Dunno about where you live, but around here buses have the rightaway all the time. If they're pulling away from the curb, they don't even have to look.

Here, we don't have busses. But from the sounds of it, he was in a left turn only lane? If so, even if busses have the right of way, he broke the law by making an illegal turn.
