Well, bascially I leave my computer on for days at a time. It's great to have a stable Win2K pro machine.
During most of the time, I have file sharing programs enabled, so I'm constatly downloading/uploading files. I also do a lot of file transfers to other computer's on my network from my computer.
The problem is that I've already lost one hard drive (it was a Quantum 30 GB 7200 RPM LM series). It started making horrible scratching noises and failed on me. (I lost all my files... BOOOO!)
Now I have a Maxtor DiamondMax 7200RPM 60 GB drive. It randomly makes horrible scratching noises. While the scratching occurs, my system freezes temporarily... as if the swap file was inaccessible. I've run ScanDisk numerous times, but no problems have come up. Somehow I'm not convinced. Please help!
EDIT:
Heh, I guess TunaBoo can leave the erroneous spelling up for you people to have a good laugh. Please add something constructive to this thread though, I can't believe that I'm now tied to such dirty imagery.
