Reading another post on insuarnce rates got me wondering...am I paying way too much for insurance. Right now I am spending $135 per month on a 98 Camry XLE...now this is a comp.coverage. Wonder if it would be worth it to downscale to liability..considering that I dont anyways have uniusured motorist coverage on my present policy...

Ya, I think your paying to much. I pay less than that for three vehicles. For what ever it's worth. I did some major price searching last year and no one came close to All State who I have now. It's a pain in the ass but I like to let anyone quote me who wants to. Most will always come in a little lower than what you pay now.

Well, it depends on how old you are. I'm 21, and I'm getting raped up the ass. I pay $190 a month on my 97 Camry.

I just turned 25 which helps me get some added discount but then I loose my Good student disc because I turn 25 ...so basically thats nets it out.

Also I just have one car on the policy so that dosent help much. I did try All State..but they wont sell me a policy cause they supposedly only sell to American citizens. !!

Hmm...I am seriously considering downscaling to only liability...wonder if it is a wise move

My wife and I are insuring a 1998 Integra LS. I think the premiums for full coverage (plus extra... we up the minimum so that if we hit an expensive car and total it, we're probably covered... too many expensive cars in Austin TX), and I think we pay $400-ish per 6 months. I dont remember exactly, but it definitely is nowhere near 135/month.

Unless you own the car, you can't drop down to liability. The bank won't allow it. You are required to have full coverage until it's paid off.

umm, my friend has a camaro in ny. I beleive he pays close to 6000 per year for insurance for full coverage. Then again, he is under 21, with a performance car, in the queens area with a high crime rate. So your insurance depends on a lot of things. Geico which I have now is pretty cheap for my Subaru, though they seemed to have raised me 400 bucks for no reason.

tkdkid, Yes I do realize that but honestly I dont think the bank checks up on each account consistently...I mean for the first month or so client files are out and then they go into the cabinets !! Actually i was told this by one of the finance guys in one of the dealership that I had been to...his deal was the way to get a lower interest rate and monthly patyment was to get extended warranty and then after a couple of months ..cancel and get your refund..

I mean i would really like comp.coverage but God knows that I cantr afford to keep having it now...(especially since I am loosing my part time job in a months time...damn takeover !!!!!!)
