This issue isn't about being paranoid or trusting your intuition.

You description of the break room was funny, but I would question whether or not your perception was shaped by your own attitudes rather than what those drivers were really thinking. 1) you were a stranger, and you walked into their space used for down time. Why wouldn't they stare at you? What did you expect them to do? ignore you? You probably knew where you were going so it isn't reasonable to expect them to ask you if you needed help or something. No, I think there is a good chance that your perception of the break room was misled, and that it colored your perception of the interview. Of course the interviewer is going to tell you that you would be working in an all male environment. He would be remis if he didn't. That doesn't mean "creep factor high". Not everyone is good at interviewing...

Make your decision based on whether you think you would enjoy the work, need the work, and how much it pays. You seem like you would be able to deflect any inappropriate attention well enough.

linuxboy: Do you always use the most abstruse language even on the simplest questions? Being succinct is one thing, loquacious is another

Paranoia is not very simple... And I thought that succinctness and loquacity/garrulousness were opposites, not simply different. And no, I don't ALWAYS use my normal writing style, it's just how I think, hence it is how I post. I'll try to tone it down, I know, I know.

Cheers ! 🙂

Honey I might be alot of things but I am certainly not a wimp😉

Maybe one of your boobs popped out?

LOL! No that didn't happen😎

Then take the job. Women can't complain about lack of opportunity in the workforce one minute, then decide they won't take a job the next because they're worried about something that hasn't - and probably won't - even happened.

I never said I was afraid to take the job, I never said I felt threatened, I asked if anyone else ever had anything like that happen to them.😉 And I never complain about opportunity in the workforce, where I live there is no opportunity for anyone, so it's very fair!

I think most cases of harrassment can be avoided if the woman makes it clear what she will and will not tolerate, and I have no problem expressing that.

Gawd I hope so!

1. I'm too attractive to work there
2. If i did work there I most likely would be sexually harrassed

Anyone else ever had anything like this happen to them?
>>

i agree with both points. you are too attractive to work there, and i do think something would happen.

never had it happen to me, but there's a first time for everything.
and i don't think you're paranoid. i think it's just a warning. enjoy.

Ha, if you want a pic of them, she will have to take it in shifts, they are too long to fit in just one picture. 😉

And I say take the job and kick their asses if they step up. It won't be the first time. Just don't knock their teeth out, those are far and few between in men around these parts! 😀

<< After looking at "The Face of a Killer" I'd recommend you find somewhere else to work, like maybe in my office! 😉 How do you feel about living in Georgia?

LOL You are pretty sweet looking though. 😉 But that shouldn't stop you from getting a job. I would imagine he told you all that stuff so you would be fully aware of the situation. Because more than likely he doesn't want you whining everytime someone looks at you or ask you out. And because of the way you look it will probably happen from time to time. I guess if you can roll with it I would let him know you want the job. And by roll with it I don't mean you allow someone to harrass you, but if someone asks you out or give you a compliment try not to go off the deep end.

I swear, the exact same thing happened to me when I walked through the breakroom at Mabel's Whorehouse when I applied for the cook's job.

Just because you are not paranoid all the time dosen't mean you shouldn't be.
I'll probably get flamed for this because it dosen't really help, and I think someone is
in the garage. Better go check it out.

myputer, from what I've seen and read from you on ATOT (Hell, even the simple fact that you post here), I'd say you have the, uh, stones to handle this work environment.

C'mon, you know, as most all of the women here know, that males are big goofy puppies who are easily influenced and led by a strong minded woman!

You'd have to be lovingly fierce, and fiercely consistent ABOUT being lovingly fierce, but you could easily set the tone and maintain it. The first time a guy went even a little over the line, you could loudly but smilingly call him on it, and enlist the other guys all too readily to your side. Again, c'mon, who amongst the other boys wouldn't want to be your pet and proud protector They'd be falling all over each other big time to support you!

You could REALLY make this work for you, and I mean BIG TIME. You'd just have to play the part and be "on the job" 24/7 in such an enviroment -- that's the trade-off.

Only you know if such a trade-off would work for you, but you did say your family needs the dough, and you do have that 30 day out.

Good luck.

Edit: You'd be, in effect, the alpha male, despite your lack of exterior plumbing. Sometimes the best man for a job IS a woman, lol!
