Don't be a whiner, it's one day and he's already done this favor for you in the past. I'm sure he'll appreciate it a lot.

So you were in a bind due to a scheduling conflict and after pleading with your brother, he agreed to help you out.

Now that things are reversed, you won't help him out? Even though you hate lifeguarding (you're probably bored to tears), you should help your brother out since he helped you.

I needed the help. I talked to my boss before, and she said I needed to have the shift covered, so I asked my bro, as it was the day of. He knew a week early, and didnt try to cover it, presuming I'd do it. I'm not on the sub list. He called all the subs, and they wouldnt do it. He didnt go and just tell them he did all he could do. He did his duty, and everything in his power, so they shouldnt have a problem. Then he pulled me into it, even though I shouldnt have been part of it.

You're more than out of line. You're being an ungrateful little sh!t. He helped you out. Now you should do the fair thing and help him out. He's your brother damnit.

Some times just because you don't want to do something isn't reason enough to not do it.

doesn't matter if he just told you. did you have some complex scheduling problems in your busy life? sounds like you just dont feel like it...

he may have done all that was required of him, but he wanted you to cover that day for some reason.
if he thought he needed you to insure the safety of the patrons--you should do it.
if he thought this would increase the possibility of a raise with his boss/manager--you should still do it.

You're making excuses now? I'm a lifeguard. I'd be more than happy to help HIM out if I even lived in the same country as you. But apparantly you're in Afganistan.

Go and do your duty or I'm sure I can find someone to strip you of your NLS, AED, CPR C and RLSSC, that is, if you live in Canada.

:| Good thing you're quitting, giving lifeguards a bad name.

For the others, lifeguarding is a sweet job.. tanning, checking the chicks, just sitting, on the phone... hours are great and getting out is something we all need 😉

Man you seem like a total prick. He helped you out so why can't you do it in return.

How hard is life guarding ? Plus you get to see chicks and stuff all day.
Get a good book and read.

Geez it's one fuggin day.

It's your brother, why wouldn't you help him out? So you hate lifeguarding... so what? Your brother asked you to return a favor. You owe him.

you are a sh!tbag...you expect him to help you out but you wont do the same? I hate people like you.

Strip me of my certification because I am busy and have other things to do than work a job which isn't even mine, and which I havent practiced in 3 months? Please. Go back to your hole.

Hours may be great at your place, they are NOT at this place.

And as for the replies, I accept the fact that you guys think it was a dumb decision. Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I probably was a self-centered asshole on this one.
