At the beginning of this summer, I was working two jobs, at the same place. I was both a kitchen guy, as well as a lifeguard (it was a country club). I still hold the kitchen guy thing, but I quit lifeguarding because I absolutely despise it, like nothing else, and it interfered with kitchen work. However, one time before I quit, I was scheduled to work both places, with overlapping shifts. I figured that out the day I was to work, so I had no means of calling subs. My brother is a registered lifeguard and he had been lifeguarding all year at school, so I begged and pleaded with him to take over my shift that day. He agreed, and stuff was all good. However, I quit from the lifeguarding job, as I said, and I was not a sub or anything else.
Fast forward to this week.
My brother works tomorrow at the same place, as a lifeguard. He's also scheduled to ref 18 short-sided soccer games as part of a tournament. So, he's got a problem. He knew this at the end of LAST WEEK. He asked me if I'd work, I explained how I hate lifeguarding, and told him to call all the subs on the list. None of them could work, so he came back to me. He is scheduled to work tomorrow (last day of the summer), and told them about this little issue today. Along with telling them that he couldnt work, and he'd called all the subs, he said that his little brother would most likely be able to come in "so it shouldn't be a big deal." Ha! I told him many times that I didn't want to, or I didnt think I could. In one ear, and out the other, it seemed.
So, as of now. I've stood my ground, and told him that I can't work. He hasn't gone to the bosses and told them that I can't work, but if he's called all the subs, there's nothing he can do about it. He's done his duty. Of course, he's all pissed off and ready to blame me for his screw-up.
What do ya'll think?
