Am I on the bridge to a nervous breakdown?

I recently partnered up with a friend in a graphics design company. I knew what i was getting into with the long hours and stuff, but i guess i didn't know how it was going to feel like.

I work from 10-14 hours a day, at least 6 days a week, we have plenty of work, and are in the process of hiring more people.

My gf just left me, and now i don't know what to do with the little free time that i do have. I feel like im losing sense of myself, reality, and only thinking about work.

Anyone have any advice?

Workload may or may not decrease, we've actually been holding back some jobs because we're all tied up at the moment.

Its hard to find good help too.

accept in your own mind that this is just temporary... it is just an experience on your path of life. it will get better and you will be wiser for having experienced this.

geta book on meditation or look up some easy meditation exercises on line. it will help especially when you feeling like you are not in control.

good luck.

Life is all about balance and weiging your options. Sure, you lost your girlfriend and that sucks. Could she have been more supportive of you during this time (assuming she left you mainly because of this), sure. But she didn't. And you made a choice to focus on your business to secure a future for yourself.

On the flip side, could you have made more time for her and yourself while taking on this venture, only you know the answer to that.

Just set limits and boundaries for yourself that you reasonably believe you can maintain. Just learn to manage yourself better, otherwise you may end up working yourself into the ground and a nervous breakdown.

And I assume you already know this, but I'll say it anyway. Drinking ain't gonna help ya man.

Good luck.

How long have you been doing this? Those hours can be fairly normal, so if you can't hack it now it certainly won't get any better. As a small business owner I've seen more 20 hour days and 100 hour weeks than I can count. Eventually you find ways to balance it out, but it takes time.

Don't just work aimlessly. Derive a goal, financial or otherwise, and take steps to reach it. It's the only thing that can keep things in perspective.

Very true, especially the last part. Having a solid game plan with progressive goals is crucial. Otherwise you might feel like you're getting nowhere, albeit the tremendous efforts you are putting out. And such a demoralizing state can be crippling.
