Proof that it's an awesome deal. Still as fast or faster than every Nvidia card except the 570, 580, and 590. Competition is good, but Nvidia really hasn't tried hard since it shook up the market with the GTX460.
Enjoying mine I picked up 3 weeks ago. The Supply of them gets smaller each day, so it's best to get them while you can.
Huh? If you say so.
Would it be wise to run a 5870 on a Antec TruePower New 550W PSU? Expecting my tax return any day now...

Yeap, no problems. Hell, I just got in two of those 5870s from that sale, and I"m running them crossfire on a 460 watt Corsair with an Phenom II x4. I'm skimming the absolute top of the power supply, but it runs and I haven't had any stability issues yet.
Granted it's only temporary; I have a 700w 80+silver Seasonic coming in the mail, but it's not due to arrive until tomorrow. But heck, for just a single card you won't have any problems.
I've been having a few occasional issues and am thinking that my 500watt Seasonic is being taxed a little too much. Other than that the card has been great.
If less power consumption is the main priority here I'd rather wait it out for the newer 28nm GPUs coming out soon. The reduced fabrication size should bring about greater power consumption reduction and reduced temperatures and most importantly greater performance.
But for OP he wants to use a single card so I don't think power consumption is a big concern. Now only if I can get my hands on one of these :awe:
What kind of issues? I doubt they are PSU related. You have plenty of power to run a 5870. Your system probably peaks at 350w.
