Question Am I missing something here? ASUS ROG PSU didnt come with 8 pin MB Connector. Options?

evident

Just built a new PC and had a carry over seasonic 650W PSU for a while. I just received my ASUS ROG Thor 1000W Platinum II in the mail today and was excited to swap it out.
As I was switching everything out i see that the PSU does not come with a ATX_12V_2X4 cable, but only 2 ATX_12V 4 pin connectors. my motherboard, a Gigabyte Aorus Z690 Ultra calls for 1 4-Pin ATX_12V_2X2 and 1 8-pin ATX_12V_2X4.

Am I out of luck? Can i order this cable from Asus to get it to work with my new PSU? is there an obvious solution i'm missing here? I haven't built a PC in 6 years so maybe there is something i'm missing.
Extremely disappointed because my 6 year old Seasonic PSU had this cable. I find it hard to believe that a gaming and enthusiast oriented PSU wouldn't supply a cable like this. I should have double checked everything before ripping up my perfect cable management w/ my old psu for this one, not knowing i woulda had to put everything back in place!

There should two, dual 4 pin connectors for the CPU. The 4 pin connectors will go side by side in the 8 pin on the motherboard. Then use just 1 of the 4 pin from the second cable for the 4 pin on the motherboard. They are keyed so should only fit one way.

This was the first thing i tried and they actually do not fit in. I looked at the keyed connectors and they are different. the left most 4 connectors do not have the same shape.

Maybe contact Asus or the retailer about the missing cable, because it is a missing cable. I've got an 850W Thor unit, currently on a shelf chilling, and it had both 4/8 ATX cables. Cannot imagine the 1kw unit having fewer cables vs. the 850W unit.

I'd bet it was just shorted a cable and a call to Asus would rectify the situation. Probably be the first thing I'd do rather than ranting on a forum about it....... just sayin'

believe it or not the box conents lists two cpu cables, both 2 x 4 pins. they simply cant be butted up next to each other and plugged in either. i stared at this thing way too long to have made that mistake. I'll try to reach out to ASUS customer support before returning this thing to amazon.

Any chance you can show us a picture? Most PSU cables are like this. You may have to "slide" one connector onto the other.
