Am I missing a part or is it supposed to look like this?

Howdy,

I was changing the brakes on my van and came across a caliper pin that was stuck in place and wouldn't move. I eventually got it out and cleaned it up but am not sure if I'm missing a part.

Take a look at the image at this link:
https://www.autozone.com/brakes-and...brake-caliper-bolt-guide-pin-kit/15994_0_4222

Notice the top caliper pin has an indentation at the left end. Is there supposed to be a rubber gasket type thing that fits in that groove or is it supposed to be empty? I don't have anything in that groove but I don't know if that's normal or not.

Thanks!

I have the boot. I'm talking about the groove/notch at the other end of the caliper pin at the top left of the link.

I've seen some that have a rubber "sleeve" and some that don't. You're not going to find that part at Autozone IMHO.

I decided to just skip the thing since a lot of people said they don't worry about it. Brakes seem to be working. ;)

If I had to make a guess, that's a slot for an o-ring. Hard to say. You can probably find an exploded view of the brakes in some online parts catalog though.
