Am I Hot or Not? Why the Phenomena?

You put your picture up on the internet and allow access by a very small percentage of the world to decide if they think you meet their standards. If broken down the concept seems entirely crazy, however it goes on to meet a psyhcological need of acceptance and a sense of belonging. The questions I have is do those people whom rate either very high or very low affected by their outcomes?

I got a friend who's just got dumped by her boyfriend. She's really hot but 100% un-aware of it and pretty down on herself. I was close to putting her pic up and showing her the page when (ok 'if') her score came out high, but i figured it might be alittle rude. afterall someone else who knows her coudl pretty easily find it, i know a lot of peole who kill time at the site.

i think many of the picutres that are added are by ppl who find a certain pic on a page and just add that person so see what "we" will vote.

I think it's a novelty thing. No one really cares too much about it. I do it for kicks.

i give the hot chix a 1, simply because they need to feel liked (probably) and the ugly ones get a 10, for having the guts to send in thier pictures.

Really, if you think about it this is a way relative topic, sometimes I see someone who I think is at best mediocre and the get like 9 out of 2000 votes.
