Am I heartless?

if two kids from high school class died...would it be wrong to listen to "another one bites the dust" by queen right after you find out?

Unrelated to poll:

Also, 3 kids i knew in high school (but dislikeed greatly) were arrested for Class X felony charges (battery and mob action). 6-30 years in prison, 85% must be served. Can I laugh at them?

Yes you are.

That being said, you did nothing that I wouldn't have done so, I guess that means we can attend the meetings together. :)

in the 6th grade one of my friends was run over by a car and they played that song at her funeral because it was her absolute favorite song.

I agree with the above sentiments - unless the death resulted from said criminal behaviour and/or warranted a Darwin Award.

In the first case, yes, it would be rather heartless. Also, it is just very poor taste.

In the second case, you can laugh at them.

Even though I don't find death particularly funny myself, I don't see any reason why you would be evil if you do. Death is a natural part of life, like tripping/passing gas/sex, all of which people find ways to laugh at. The only reason why it would be in bad taste to laugh at death is if you did it in front of people that were personally affected by the death. It's not cool to laugh at someone's deep grief. However, if you aren't in the presence of those people, it's not hurting anybody. It's not the same as making fun of an invalid where it might not happen to you. You're definitely going to die as well. I've heard some idiots ask "how would you like it if someone laughed at you after you died?" , to which the obvious answer is, "I wouldn't care, I'd be dead. Even if there's an afterlife, the least of my concerns would be some stranger laughing."

Criminals are never off limits.

I. Depending on the cause. Mocking a death of cancer victim is in bad taste. Mocking a death of some stupid idiot who got killed by the bullet in armed robbery is encouraged.

II. definitely

I remember in high school this kid killed himself after he couldn't pay for his drugs he bought and sold a bunch of his parents stuff to pay for them but still didn't have enoungh. He had already failed ninth grade twice and was a real prick. A bunch of people who hardly knew him were crying for days and putting up memorial stuff all over the school. I was like, "WTF?"
