I playing Day of Defeat:Source, Battlefield 2, Counter Strike:Source.

I also like to recording TV shows on my Hauppauge PVR-150. I use WinTV.

While I am playing DoD, it seems like when the WinTV comes up to start recording or finish, it crashes my computer.

Am I taxing my machine? I do noticed a bit of CPU lag when the PVR is recording while gaming.

I thought my rig would be able to handle it since the PVR has it's own hardware encoder and my machine is pretty decent.

Any advice?
 
Try using gbpvr instead of wintv. You might get some glitches in your recording if you do a disk intensive operation on the same disk that you're recording to, but overall you can game and record at the same time. I'm not positive about playing Source games and recording at the same time with gbpvr, but I know you can play BF2 and record with gbpvr.
 
I have tried using GBPVR and it has it's limitations.

I do like it's record feature much better than WinTV & WinTV Scheduler.

I guess I can record with GBPVR and view it with WinTV...
 
Maybe it is the default skin I am using but it is just not that good.
Also, it is not responsive to the hauppauge remote.

Off topic but do you have a Hauppauge remote? If so, do you know how to program the colored buttons?
 
Google around for remote.ini, that's what you need. The newest version of the remote software actually supports a decent amount of programming.
 
Is it possible that the PSU can't handle it? I know that my Powmax will cause the system to crash when I'm browsing AT and trying to detect a music CD at the same time. Enhance doesn't ring a bell to me like Enermax and Fortron so it may be low quality.
