I got a 13" MBP and a 20" Dell monitor running a 1680x1050 resolution. They're hooked up via a mini Display port -DVI connector and while the MBP recognizes the monitor, it's sleeping, and can't be woken up.
I'm not really sure how to go from here guys,my life is shattered by this malfunction. Any ideas to help me out?
edit: I reapplied the settings, and restarted the macbook. While the monitor is awake (light is now green as opposed to sleeping yellow) the screen is black. Nothing. halp!'
Edit: On my Dell this message just popped up:
"Out of range signal, Cannot display video mode, change computer display input to 1680x1050 @ 60hz"
That's how it is set currently, but then I changed the monitor settings to 1280x1024 and that got it working for a little bit.
the first time I did it, the monitor showed the desktop in the squashed setting, and then the screen went very staticky, never seen that before.
I changed it to 1600x1000, screen went black. I changed it 1680x1050, screen was still black and asleep.
Changed it again to 1280x1024, and the screen actually lit up for a sustained period of time showing the macbook desktop.
When I changed it to 1680x1050, it went asleep, and it is refusing to wake up ever since.
Does the intel video card not support 1680x1050? It lists it as an option FFS.
Wtf.
