Am I Being Abused by my task lead? What can I do about it?

Aproach him and say something to the tune of this "Hey I realize that you may have a problem with me either that or I dont understand your sense of humor, I would like to take you out for dinner and just talk about this so it doesnt become a bigger deal. Meet me at (insert very expensive resturant) at around 7" Then before he says anything walk away. Do this at the end of the day right before you leave. When you meet him at the resturant order the meals (make sure you get one thatsreally expensive) and then once you get the food tell him you have to go to the bathroom and bail. Just get the fvck out of there. Then see who gets the last laugh when he has a $100 meal he is stuck with.

HR--> Formal Complaints
Nothing Happens--> More formal complaints and start cussing him out and talking back to him.

Note the word formal - in six months if you have enough and nothing happens - sue the company.

Keep your cool. Ask him politely to treat you with some respect and if it persists go to HR.

i was just reading in my Psychology Today(for free too, thank you hot deals ) about odd ball co-wokers. "as many as 5 to 10 percent of workers may sufer from a personality disorder" they also list some office personality types. he seems to fit under the "office stud" catgory which entails; fantasize about unlimited success(the "you'll never make it" is a tip off), carry pocket mirrors(does he?), boss you around(a given). it says usually the 'office stud' types hold a job as a soilder or police officer(brad ruth im looking at you ) it gives some advice on how to deal with them too "respect orders but stand your ground. edit: oh ya, file a complaint with HR like everybody is saying. just keep filing them, like at the end of every week a new one. in a month or two if NOTHING is done about it you have about 8 complaints filed for you to fall back on for legal action.

Call him out, what you need to do is ask him what would he do in your position, and make him clearly delineate within the boundaries of the discussion exactly what he would do. If he is not willing to do taht they he loses credibility, simple concept but works wonders.
