If you changed what they are being washed with that could be it. Also installing stuff like that will kick a lot of stuff into the air.

If you were doing it with normal soap and are now using a detergent you may very well be allergic to it.

I haven't known anyone who had to wash clothes in a sink or tub since my immigrant Italian grandmother who raised three kids in a coal mining town in the 1930s.
In other news, I used to wash all my clothes with unicorn pee and Sasquatch tears.
Open the windows up, air it out. Nice fresh fall air. It rocks.
