There was an article around here recently that someone from good old Nigeria or whatever, basically took valid craigslist ads, copied and pasted them into new adds with ridiculously low prices. Created a fake email address matching the actual person's name at Yahoo.com. When people responded, he just asked them to send in a deposit and first months rent to him via western union or whatever.

Of course people did that and never heard back. People even called him up to make sure he was real and he used a real phone number and told them he was legit but had moved out of the country and things like that.
