Am I a loser for not going to prom?

F the prom. I should really let those who actually attended theirs to comment on whether you should or not. Personally, I don't regret not going to mine one bit so don't sweat it. Take the cash you would have spent on a tux and use it to buy tickets to some kicka$$ concert instead. Go enjoy a concert with some of your real friends instead of hanging out with a bunch of kids trying to act cool.

most of the ppl here saying that prom sucks ect...are losers themselves..go and have a good time....dont worry about a date ect...just go and do what you do best....

plus the after parties are where its at!

I guess it depends on what he is going to do. I skipped prom and had an absolute blast that night.

I went once and it was lame. I guess it's okay that I can say I went, but really....it was lame. Spend a load of money on renting a tux and a limo for what? Getting to bang a chick you've already been drilling on a regular basis anyway?

I wouldn't worry about the prom part. Just go to the parties after words, thats all that counts anyways.

Now this guy is a loser. Much more so than the OP.

Do I care?

Nope, because the fact is High School really isn't that much of your life. Who gives a fvck if you're "cool"?

omg now this guy is a loser.

Fixed

Prom is only worth going if you have someone special in mind. I never went to any of the proms, and I don't have any regrets. 2 years after highschool, you wonder why it seemed so important at the time.

I went to my junior prom, my girlfriend and I were prom queens, the class voted and we stood on the court.
I skipped my senior prom. My new gf and I split up a week prior and I wasn't much excited about going after that.
Got drunk instead.

well dang. I can't believe all of the insensative people here. The guy has a problem here. Don't go making him feel worse about something. If you can't offer anything good, then just don't say anything at all.... gee whiz!

MournSanity, The Prom is a big thing to some people, and it's ok for them. For me the prom was just another school party, so I didn't go. My gf (now wife) had a prom a couple of years later that we missed, we sat on her front lawn and talked all night long. On the other hand, my daughter went to her prom and loved it.

But no matter what you decide, just don't be like those people who constantly live in the past and talk about their highschool years. There are so many more things in your life that you have to look forward to. Don't get hung up on some highschool sanctioned party.

Good luck buddy!

Yes, you shall regret it.

Look, I had a hearty four years of sh!t, but I'm still fully looking forward to going.

On another side, I'm sure that there's some girl who's debating, same as you are. Find her, and ask her.

I regret not going...Of course, the girl that I am in love with went with another guy, and they hang all over each other now, so I wouldn't have liked it much anyways...Just go...guys without dates have more fun...They can dance with anybody, don't have to worry about buying the girl all that stuff and entertaining, and don't have to have pictures taken!

If you never participated in high school activities to begin with (it sounds like you haven't), then I don't think you will regret it. I didn't go because I was out of high school almost two years when my class was graduating, and most of my friends had left that school too. I didn't even walk at graduation because I was so far removed from the school by that time.

Honestly I regret neither because now I'm in college and there are better things to do then spend over $100 on one night with some girl who probably won't even put out. These days the dances and parties are free, you're allowed to get wasted, and your date will likely put out if you put the effort in.

But you also sound like you're not going because you can't get a date. If you want to go, have date to prom, etc. just go out and ask a girl. I guarantee you there are a bunch of girls feeling the same way you are, hoping someone asks them to prom. Girls are way more insecure than guys are

I went to prom my senior year. One of the most boring and suck nights of my life.

Don't worry to much about going. It's not the end of the world
