married into a family where virtually all the women have this illusion that by being 100% submissive, not speaking their minds, and constantly being the giver, they can get and keep a "good" man. In many cases (and their family history has proven it, and then some) all people can typically expect to attract in such a case is someone who is an "expert" in taking advantage of this type of person - and ultimately, you won't do yourself justice (or the relationship for that matter) by biting your tongue and giving in on every turn.

You just described all of my sister in laws! They do what they are told when they are told and never speak their minds. Then tell me how terrible their husbands are, and how unfair their marrages are. I don't think they realize they have done this to themselves.

BoberFett- I'm not mad over giving in. I know if I would have said I wanted the couch, we would have gotten the couch. I know even now if I said lets go get it, he would get it. He bought me a 33x16 swimming pool 2 years ago, and he doesn't even swim!

And I have seen his face before when his friends are telling him how they have this and that. I look forward to seeing his face when he is showing it off to his friends.:)

This will give ya time to look for a better and more expensive sofa. I gotta agree with creedog.

Has anyone asked if your husband is uncool for demanding the TV?

LOL, he didn't demand it. He was looking at it and I said you really like that don't you? He said baby I love this TV, you think we can afford this and the couch? I told him no, but if he wanted to get the TV the couch could wait. And he was all :D:cool::p

Very cool of you but selfish of him if he knew you had waited so long for the couch he should have put that before himself IMO I would have let my girl get the couch

He has been working at ground zero for over 2 months now, 12 hours a day AT LEAST 5 days a week, sometimes 12 days straight. I would never have been able to live with myself if I told him no. Me sacrificing my couch is nothing in comparison to what he sacrafices everyday to support his family. LOL, OMG, I sound so pathetic!!!

that couch is awful!
i'd let the old man pick out the sofa when you get around to buying it,
or you could have a poll on AT to see what we think looks best!

You would have gotten a better response on the couch if you'd posted a pic of one that wasn't an ugly green. ;) The couch itself wasn't bad, just the upholstery (sp?)

<< "Hummer is my middle name"

The Tv incident made you a sucker, but that ^ made you a cool wife :) Or maybe I've got it backwards.......
>>

Having been married for almost six years I can honestly say that the tv take a back seat to the middle name:D
