Am I a bad American?

Ever since I was little I remeber playing The Hunt For Red October on our Amiga. I always liked to get killed because I liked hearing the Soviet National Anthem. One person said I was a commie becasue of this. Does this make me a bad American? I mean it is not like I sing it I just think it is a catchy tune.

All together now:

Soy'ooz neroosh'imi resp'ooblik svob'odnikh
Splot'ila nav'eki vel'ikaia Rus
Da zdr'avstvooyet sozdanni voley nar'odov
Yed'ini mog'oochi Sov'etski Soy'ooz

Sl'avsa ot'echestvo n'ashe svob'odnoye
Dr'oojbi nar'odov nady'ojni opl'ot
P'artia L'enina, - s'ila narodnaya
Nas k torjestv'oo kommun'izma vedy'ot

Skvoz g'odi siy'alo nam s'ontse svob'oodi
I L'enin vel'iki nam put ozar'il
Na pr'avoye d'elo on p'odnal nar'odi
na tr'ood i na p'odvigi nas vdokhnov'il

Enjoy.

Oh, another thing.
The Russians might bring the music back, but without the Communist words. Apparently the current Russian anthem sucks. So they are going to write new words for the Soviet anthem. So it will be guilt free listening for you after that.

come on, lets all sing for the Motherland!

Unbreakable Union of freeborn Republics,
Great Russia has welded forever to stand.
Created in struggle by will of the people,
United and mighty, our Soviet land!

Sing to the Motherland, home of the free,
Bulwark of peoples in brotherhood strong.
O Party of Lenin, the strength of the people,
To Communism's triumph lead us on!

Through tempests the sunrays of freedom have cheered us,
Along the new path where great Lenin did lead.
To a righteous cause he raised up the peoples,
Inspired them to labor and valorous deed.
[Or, the old way:
Be true to the people, thus Stalin has reared us,
Inspire us to labor and valorous deed!]

Sing to the Motherland, home of the free,
Bulwark of peoples in brotherhood strong.
O Party of Lenin, the strength of the people,
To Communism's triumph lead us on!

In the vict'ry of Communism's deathless ideal,
We see the future of our dear land.
And to her fluttering scarlet banner,
Selflessly true we always shall stand!

It is actually a very powerful national anthem...and to this day many of my russian friends still are moved by it a lot more rather then by the current russian national anthem.
This is true especially if you know russian history and the lyrics as posted above to the anthem.

Russian Soldier, you like fishing huh?

Maybe you should try using less flame bait if you don't.

Note. Not that i have anything problems with your above statement, however as discussed in previous threads...communism doesn't work in real world situations.

Heck, I like the entire soundtrack to the Hunt for Red October. Don't feel bad.

I think Tom Clancy put it best - "Russians are a lot like Texans."

i'm not gonna go hijacking this thread with debate about communism working and or not working... but by any means...

it is possible that we maybe in the first stage of stepping towards communism, but it wouldn't happen until technology yields the ability for everyone to have anything they want at any given moment without any problems or issues arising. In other words, not for many many more years. (Hundreds, perhaps thousands)
By then, the term communism would also be archaic and newer concepts will predominate the issue as something closer to socialism.

Though, personally, i don't think humans would live to see that day. Either we will destroy ourselves or we will cause our own regression and thus not advancing to that level of civilization where utopia in theory can be acheived in reality.

<< I've always kinda like Canada's Anthem. >>

I never liked Canada's, even though I have to listen to it every morning.

I love the bulgarian one. Both music and words. French one is good too.

capitalism gooooooooooooooooooood
communism bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaddddddddd

dang japanese keyboard

we should'a listened to Patton. then the "National Anthem" would be what they play over there!

Your probably feel that way because the American anthem is mediocre poetry put to bad music 50 years after the poet died. The Soviet Anthem was actually composed...
