Sorry to hear that.
Neurodegenerative diseases are a lot more insidious in that you watch your loved ones slowly fade away over many years. :(
If it makes things any better, they're got a pretty decent understanding of what's going wrong. Now if we only understood how the brain totally worked, we could probably have a viable treatment.
