alumni membership to an ivy school worth it?

Anyone know if alumni memberships are worth it or not? Membership fee is nothing to sneeze at, it's a good $400 for lifetime.

They do offer a bunch of stuff, but the two things that I'm interested in are the networking and the access to the school gyms, tennis courts, discounted golf course, etc

Are you planning on living in that area long enough to at least get $400 out of the amenities?
Are you looking for a job? If you can land a well paying job from the networking then it pays for itself.

Wait....if you graduated from there, why would you need to buy an alumni membership? Is this how they do it at ivy schools?

You graduated from an Ivy League school and you don't have $400 to spare? What do you do w/ your money? Buy $400 jeans?

I didn't go to an ivy league and my alumni association was not free.

I guess it is "pick your poisen"....

Pay by getting screwed on tution....

or

pay an alumni fee

they get you either way😉

I think it depends on your industry. If you work on Wall Street, it is a no brainer. It's primary mission is to maintain networking connections and you simply have to assess if there are enough of your peers who are likely to be in a position to help you.

Same. Went to a Big Ten school and paid for mine. I get discounts for tickets and seat preference so it's nice.
