Aluminum Cans or Plastic Bottles - For soda/pop?

What do you prefer? Why?

I prefer aluminum cans because I think they are colder, the portion is consumable before it gets warm and it's metal!

This discussion comes up because I asked the vending machine guy why there are 5 rows of bottles and only 1 row of cans in our vending machine.
He said bottles sell better. I think it's because they cost more and are more profitable.

Are cans old school? What do todays youth prefer?

Depends on how thirsty I am but usually if I will be in a car for a length of time the plastic ones as they hold more and you can seal them.

Prefer cans for when I am home as you can transport them so much easier and store them in the fridge better.

Usually cans because the portion size is more appropriate.

When travelling it's always better to get the plastic bottle. Nice to help keep spills to a minimum.

generally speaking aluminum is a much better conductor of heat than plastic, can should actually heat up faster than the bottle.

Yup... that's why it "feels" colder too. Coldness is a sensation of heat transfer that is governed by conductance as much as temperature. It's possible to have a warmer can of coke that feels colder to touch than a colder plastic bottle.

Plastic bottles hold too much. No matter what size you get, you're going to end up drinking the whole thing, so it's better to get a can and restrict yourself to 12 oz.

The best is glass bottles in the 8-10 oz range.

Not all plastic is bad, but yes a lot of it is. Potentially causing people to get fatter because of the chemicals that come off the plastic too.
