I am currently running an SLK900 with a Tornado with some arctic alumina. If I got AS5, would I notice a difference in temperatures, or should I just leave the damn thing alone?

i had ceramique... switched to AS5... 1-2c diff... i think ceramique or AS3 would be better than alumina.

Here's a review for you.

You'd probably notice a difference, I'd guess a few C cooler with AS5. Alumina is AS's low-end TIM. It's probably better than the generic radio shack goop, but it's not a performance paste.

Heh.. when I first read the title I thought it said 'Alumina > ASS?' Thus making Alumina a lame product or an 'ass' product by todays terminology ;)

I replaced Alumina with Ceramique and got 4 degree F improvement. AS5 is supposedly better than Ceramique. Alumina was brought out because it was non-conductive. If you are pushing your processor then consider getting AS5. Alumina is perfectly adequate for stock installations. If you do change to AS5, you will see how easy Alumina is to clean up. You can lap the heatsink a little to remove all traces of the old compound before putting on the new. I say that because the soft copper bottom gets imprinted with the cpu from the pressure of the retainer clip. Some of the old compound will be crushed into the copper. A light lapping will take it down to bright shiney copper again.:D:beer:
