Alternatives to Outlook?

I like using Outlook because of the Calendar, Notes, and task feature.
lately outlook is being a pain in the a$$ to work with and I'm thinking about switching to something
else. Outlook Express isn't so bad, but I would like a software that handles everything like outlook does.
if i have to use different programs for each function then that's fine.

Eudora was free, now it's "free", the difference being that if you want to use features like filters you either have to buy it or go with the ad-supported version.

Thunderbird is 100% free, no ads or any of that crap. Also noteably missing the glaring security holes that Outlook and Outlook Express have.

Eudora 6 just came out not too long ago...has GREAT anti-spam filters and it's free like Ogg said

Free or "free"? If the latter, what features are disabled if you go non-ad supported?

never tried thunderbird, but i've been using eurdora for about 4 years now and never had problems. There are a TON of options, you can set filters so that you NEVER receieve junk mail, just automatically send it to the trash. Stationaries, auto-reply messages, you name it eudora has it.

as for "free" it's free with a little advertisement box on teh bottom corner but no adware/spyware that i have found. I'm pretty sure there is nothing disabled, everything that i use in the paid version is the same as the "free" version, even spam filters.

I use Eudora 6 and love it. I run in ad-supported mode. The most glaring thing I noticed when it was in free mode was that I couldn't easily check mail in anything but the dominant account. That was enough to get me to turn the ad on.

Haven't used Thunderbird.

I meant "free" with the ads turned off. I know you can do that but it disables some stuff. Just curious what.

not quite sure what it turns off, perhaps the other accounts as pacmanfan said

I personally am a strong supporter of Mozilla so that partially explains my support of Thunderbird. The only gripe I have with Thunderbird is that for an e-mail client made by the folks who made Mozilla it doesn't integrate with Moz worth crap. You can't use the "open in new tab" option for e-mail links, etc. Very shoddy.

Both are great. I would give a slight edge to Eudora on a paid version of Eudora to Thunderbird comparison, but the fact that Thunderbird has a (quite excellent) spam filter for free is a big plus.

if only firebird would work correctly. on some pages it parses the layout of a page correctly, where in others it would look nasty.

BTW ... what fonts are used as default in IE?
