Cough syrup. The two are really indistinguishable.

Unfortunately for you, cough syrup is more expensive than Jagermeister.

I've seen a generic in BevMo here in the US. There are several generics in Germany. Hunter's Fire or Herten Feur is one.

A similar bitter which is flavored with kummel is Kuemmerling. I really like it but can't find it in the USA. I just sent them an inquiry. Here's a link. PLEASE NOTE: You must state that you are 18 years of age to look at a liquor bottle. Go figure. That's pretty funny.

Kuemmerling

I'm sure there are some other Kräuterlikörs out there that can come close. The only one that I can recall by name is Underberg, but it doesn't taste all that much like Jägermeister. Underberg is more bitter and... uh... herbier?

That would be bio-diesel.

That would create an Italian bitter, like Fernet Branca, which is quite good BTW and available in the USA.

Fernet Branca

Haha, that was going to be my recommendation. Put five o'clock vodka and some black licorice in a blender, blend, profit.

I thought it was bad enough without a plastic bottle generic....

To each their own though :).

heh.. that reminds me of the time back in college where my roomates and I finished off a fifth of tanqueray, and we refilled it with 5 oclock gin. We then passed out shots to the freshmen at a party, and watched them cringe as they took them, but none of them said anything because they all thought tanqueray was supposed to taste good. :D

where i'm from a jaeger shot is roughly 4.75

a well shot of anything is about 3.75

the latter tastes like barf while jaeger is delicious. if all you want is bang for the buck then why are you drinking anyway? just go right to heroin.

spend the extra dollar and enjoy your liquor.

It's really not that expensive.

No more expensive than any other known-name liquor.
