Alternative to tvpad?

I am wondering if there is any kind of alternative for tvpad since ti's death last month. Most of the online resource have been taken offline.

Well this post is more for people who know what tvpad is. Long story short, it is a kind fo tc streaming box but it allow you to watch live tv show from china, japan, hong kong.

tvpad got taken down because of lawsuits and legal problems. It seems like Dish (aka SlingTV) own the rights to that content:

DISH and leading Chinese-language television providers sue TVpad manufacturers and dealers for copyright and trademark infringement… joining DISH as plaintiffs are China Central Television (CCTV), China International Communications Co., Ltd. (CICC), and TVB Holdings (USA), Inc. (TVB USA). CCTV is the largest television broadcaster in mainland China, and TVB USA’s parent company, Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB), is the largest television broadcaster in Hong Kong. DISH holds certain rights to transmit CCTV and TVB television programming in the United States.

So I guess a SlingTV device is the replacement.

I'm surprised -- but I'm kind of not -- that it took so long for TVPad to get shutdown. Geo-restrictions on internet content have been around forever, and given the prices that cable companies charge for foreign channels, it'd be stupid not to take the "competition" down.
