Does anyone have any alternatives to NewEgg that ship to Canada? I found a pretty good one (http://www.vibecomputers.com) - but they are in the same province as me, so I would have to pay %15 taxes to order from them. Any other places with a huge selection? GoogleGear seems ok, but they don't have alot of stuff I want... I know this question has been asked before, but couldnt find any previous [posts about it

They are located in B.C. too...... that's where VibeComputers is also. So they are no good for me, 15% taxes adds up. With me planning to buy over $2500 CDN in hardware, I can't afford the additional $375 in taxes that would bring me... thanks anyways though. Anyone else have a good place that ships to Canada? Preferably located in USA? (so I don't have to pay taxes). Too bad newegg doesnt ship to canada..... I reallllllllllllllly would give anything for that :(

Acid, a news flash for you!

You will not avoid GST by ordering from outside of Canada. I'm not sure you will avoid PST either, not familiar with B.C. regs.

The courier will collect on delivery.

Also, freight charges stateside are almost without exception higher than those from Canadian sources.

Plus, unless you go air freight (way more than Candian rates), you will pay brokerage fees for ground shipments.

I sh*t you not! I was nailed an extra 20% on a video card shipped ground from N.C.

Check into it more completely.

These guys are in Alberta if you want to check their prices.

PST = Provincial sales tax

In Canada we have two main taxes, GST (7%) and PST (8%)

If I order from B.C. I pay both of them. If I order from another province in Canada, then I only pay GST. Pretty much saving me $200.

Thanks for the Alberta link, looks good. I'm probably setting my standards too high though, I gotta realize i'll never find a store even remotely close to NewEgg that is in Canada, or even ships to Canada

I also live in BC and have tried so hard to find a good online store that is outside of BC that has good prices or price matching. Because BCs 7.5% PST sucks.

I found www.dangeo.com last week.

I think they are new. They are located in Calgary.
They have price matching, ship UPS. Online order form they take Visa, Master card, they also have a pretty good selection. They seem pretty decent.
Only 2 reviews on reviews on resellerratings.com
http://www.resellerratings.com/seller3640.html
Atleast they have 10 of 10.

I have concidered ordering out of the states but I'm kinda scared because a friend of mine got screwed over so bad at the border on duty.

maybe drive to USA and buy from someone in the US and take it back to Canada? I'm not familiar with all the rules on the border, but I don't believe that this would be a problem. People come here all the time to buy different items not available in Canada. Is there some different rule on Computer parts?

I live in Ontario and I buy ALL of my stuff from Vibe. Not only are their prices great, and not having to pay PST is wicked, but their shipping charges are so low. It costs me less to ship from BC to ONT with Vibe then it would be to ship from Toronto to where I live, which is only a 100km distance.

I order from NCIX but I would change to someone out of province if they are good. I've never ordered from Vibe before, how is there price matching? How do you pay? I thought I read somewhere they charge more if you pay with credit card :(

Yup, vibe charges 3% more if you use credit card, which adds on even more $$$ to the price. The reason they do this is cause they have to pay mastercard fees, but that still doesn't justify it. They should include it into the prices, and still beable to offer a price match. To me, that is hidden costs and unjust. It's like the people at PriceWatch who used to put really low prices for their products so they would be near the top, but make the shipping price really huge!!!!! It's false advertising. Their prices are high enough as it is. $168 CDN for an Athlon XP 2100+ T-Bred (B) ...... well, newegg has em for $93 US (equal to $140 CDN using www.XE.com) with FREE SHIPPING and newegg doesn't charge a silly %3 fee. So if they truly price match, well, i'd like to see them match that! But they can't..... so how can they say they price match. Overall, vibe is cool, they got unique products, but not worth how much they cost... least for me.

hey acid what do you think of these guys?
dangeo.com
I mentioned them in an earlier post.

The only annoying thing is this:
If a company offers a price reduction (i.e. 3%) for cash purchases in their stated price Dangeo.com will not match the cash price only the stated credit card price.

I'm in a similar boat here in BC. I would drive to the states and buy my stuff, but I live on Vancouver Island, so with the ferry expense I might as well order from Australia.:)

I am not recommending them but check out dealsdirect.

Imports are still assessed federal and provincial sales taxes, plus any applicable duties. USA and MEX manufactured goods are duty free under the NAFTA but others are generally a few percent. As said, if you do so by mail then additional processing fees apply. If you enter the USA to make a purchase in that state then its sales tax must also be paid and will be included in the assessment of CAN taxes and duties. So, either mail-order from another province or from a state to a neighboring state where the former does not collect sales taxes on out of state transactions and then self-import yourself. Doing so requires a USA address to ship to such as a postal service or friend which can also be on record with your bank for credit card verification purposes. A US dollar credit card or PayPal account is also advisable to avoid the excessive exchange rates charged on credit (the highest in the industry).

According to the customer care FAQ MWave ships to Canada, however you have to email them to to get a shipping quote and they don't take international credit cards (they take wire tranfres tho)

Let's face it. The canadians stink when it comes to computer online stores. Maybe ncix is the best at this point, but since i'm in Ontario, their shipping would be more for me.

The shipping is not expensive... I have about 10 Canadian online computer stores in my bookmarks.. It used to suck, but it's fine now. I am in Ontario too.
