Alternative to Craigslist?

Craigslist is overrun with spammers phishing for e-mail addresses, scammers that put up fake ads, etc. More often than not, "inquiries" from "interested" people fall into the one the the two categories. And it doesn't look like the staff at Craigslist are going to make any real effort to fix it. So its time to move on. What alternatives have popped up to compete with Craigslist?

Facebook seems to have improved their setup, I believe they've split into local sections like Craigslist only even more so.

It really depends on what you're selling specifically though.

I've never had a problem with CL. I know how to spot what's fake, and I know how to post ads that don't invite spammers. It's free, so I wade through the crap and make good deals, whether it's buying or selling.

craigslist is great... I've probably gotten $20K worth of brand new high end bathroom/kitchen remodeling stuff for less than half of what you would pay at lowes.

I just bought this suite of appliances ($6500 retail) for $3000, all brand new...

god i hate craigslist.they need a real way to flagg stuff. beign able to flag everything does not work.

Craigslist still works quite well. True, you do have the spammers and crap, but have yet to fail to sell what I put up within a few days.

FS/FT?

If only we had one of those.
I want to deal locally as much as possible.

I just stumbled across this in my searches: http://www.ebayclassifieds.com/

Don't have an account at Facebook or at any other social networking website.

Same as CL. Adult section, hint, hint.
209 is close by. Hmoobster?

Close. 209 was an old area code.

CL works like a charm for me in Boston & NYC. I don't know about you.

-Advertised my mom's business for new staff. Got lots of inquiries and hired three for two separate businesses over 5 years.

-Sold my old monitor for practically same price as new on Amazon (but more expensive on retailers)

-Bought my dog's crate for $20 instead of $70 new

-Sold GF's 3 yo but never used Nintendo DS for $100. It's $120 on Amazon now.

-Sold my $45 Blackberry Tour replacement that I got it as new from Sprint for $150. I practically got my new shiny Evo 3D for only $45.

Love CL, I don't know where you're visiting. I only get occasional obvious spam emails.

Ya gotta accept CL for what it is. Maybe they'll improve the flagging and ridding of spam posts, but if you know how to use it, it is a great tool.
