Alternative to Comcast?

I live in CA, Bay Area and was a loyal AT&T subscriber before things went downhill and they merged with Comcast. I also frequently use newsgroups for binary files. After comcast took over, the newsgroup servers have become completely unreliable. The retention rate is less than a day and you're lucky if you find a complete post let alone an entire file. Comcast offers a giganews account, but it is limited at 1 gig and indexing counts toward that! Personally 300k download speeds aren't enough for me to stick with Comcast anymore and I'm interested in moving on. Does anyone know any good ISP's out there in CA Bay Area that are reliable and also have good newsgroup servers. Any comments/suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated.
