Alternative for SMIL

The Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL), is a W3C Recommended XML markup language for describing multimedia presentations. This is used for mobile and hand held devices for MultiMedis Messaging Service (MMS). However I noticed that not all phones can run SMIL properly. Is there an alternative tool for the same purpose?
