I am taking an "Age Specific Competency Test" so that I can volunteer at the hospital. I was reading over the packet they gave out and under "Fears" for preschooler(Age 4-6) is the following:
"Boys have a real fear of castration as punishment for real or imagined misdeeds."
Is there an alternate definition of castration that means being cut off from other people or are preschoolers fearing a castration in the medical snse of the term?
I personally don't ever remember having a fear of castration.
EDIT:
The next sentence reads:
Therefore, urinary catheterization or other procedures near the genital are may cause them a great deal of anxiety, provoking frantic resistance."
