altering text in a scan

Hello, is there a programme that will allow me to change the text in a document once I have scanned it and saved the document. I am using a umax astra 4500 flat bed scanner.

I'm no expert here, but I think you need to find yourself some character recognition software. It lets you alter the text of a scanned document.
