Since no one has answered this...I will try to explain the different skus.

IM1205669 (The online sku, means staples.com doesn't stock it. Anything starting with "IM" means it is being drop shipped from their supplier Imgred(sp) Micro.)

Now that being said, the rebate house COULD reject these rebates since you are not buying the "correct sku".

If it was me, I would get someone's name at staples that said they WILL honor the rebate, just in case. And I would write a little note with that information and the reason why the sku is different for the rebate house. It might just save you from having to fight for it later.

UPDATE from Above post.

I purchased the speakers from Staples at $54.99 - $20 coupon. Total came out to $37.16.

I called back an hour later and told the CSR that I just purchased an item online and I found it cheaper at Onvia.com. She went ahead and credited my account for $14.53! $37.16 - $14.53 = $22.63 - $20 MIR = $2.63 WHOOP! WHOOP! Thanks Bigbigsavings!

Also, the rebate form says to write in the SKU or UPC#. Can't I just write the UPC# of the speakers when I get them instead of hassling with the sku?

Zero, I don't want to needlessly concern you, but many times Staples will charge your CC incorrectly when coupons don't go through. Your order wouldn't have been processed within that hour, so it is a possibility Staples (as they have done with me) will not honor the coupon when the total isn't over the required amount or for coupon reuse (in my case). I'm not saying you won't get the deal as you are thinking. I am just advising you to double check your order and your CC because THEY won't tell you. You'll have to look yourself.

Geez, I just called staples for a pricematch and they said they dont pricematch Onvia.com. WTF is up with that??? Hmmm...I've called 3 times in a row now and each representative says they can't pricematch a store that doesn't carry their own stock...what should i do? I don't get this at all...I've called 5 times now and no one there will pricematch onvia.com...Should I try again tomorrow or what? heheh they are ticking me off....GRRR

ok. i ordered the speakers from staples online w/OUT pricematching. it was over $50. i used the coupon and it was total $37.XX.
i then called back half an hour later and Pricematched it. they would NOT take Onvia b/c its not thier wharehouse, etc. it seems like all the CSRs where just informed. so i said, ok, Buy.com. she added 9.95 shipping and it came out to $46. she said she will credit me $9 which brings my total (after MIR) to ... ~$8. i am happy.

Ok, I've probably just wasted 1 hour of my life talking with staples CSR's....I've tried to get them to PM w/ onvia to no avail and so I said Buy.com. Then when I tried to pricematch my order already made....they then said my $20 off $50 coupon wouldn't be applied anymore. This was exactly what I was afraid of. So...I was stumped and didn't know wat to do next so I just told them to cancel the damn order. The female CSR sounded quite pissed after this. Well, they deserve it. Their PM policy IS SUCK!!! Is there any way I can find a firm PM policy where it states "they will not PM onvia.com?" I am pretty much thru with staples and their idiotic PM policy. W/o PMing however, they are not that bad... 😛

Well....I certainly think Staples is being reasonable to "pricematch" including the coupon in the pricematch......in other words "Pricematch" to me means just that ....match the other guys price.....but matching and THEN giving another $20 off is something even more.....(maybe something like "pricemath + $20&quot😉

But sounds like Staples need to get some consistency in their policy....

Before I get accused of it....No I don't work for Staples.... 🙂

The only time I buy from staples is when I pricematch! And it's always with onvia.com. I would suggest calling at a different time of day or something. If their shop is open 24hours a day, they probably have different call centers (that take orders) in different timezones. (It's very common with call centers that are open 24hours a day). It's possible that one of their call centers are told not to PM onvia. I could be way off here but this is strange! I've never had a problem pricematching onvia.com. Here is Staples policy on pricematching:

Good luck!

I hate staples.............

I call back to check on my order status...they never price matched even tho they were supposed to.THEN they tell me that they cant take the coupon off AND pricematch..it has to be one or the other.

My response was BS..and I will call tomorrow and talk to a different CSR and get a different answer.

I want to make sure I am right..you can BOTH price match AND use the coupon correct

from the price match link right above....
"If Staples.com offers a rebate and after the rebate Staples.com's price beats the competition, no price guarantee will be given. You will be getting the lowest final cost by shopping at Staples.com. (For example, if Staples.com's price is $89.99 before a $30.00 rebate then your final cost is $59.99. If the competitor price is $84.99 without a rebate, there will be no price match.) "

So.....IF Staples is offering a $20 rebate on this.....then they won't pricematch down to price....but $20 higher....

Although, the policy doesn't directly say coupons, it wouldn't take much common sense to treat them the same way.....

mikedw,

I wouldn't say that you can or should be able to get the pricematch AND the coupon. I would think that this is a no no. BUT some CSRs will do it for you and some won't. It's a matter of luck! The only reason I tried is because you said it worked for you. I didn't expect it to work....I hoped it would work. It doesn't always work the first, second, or even third time you call. It's possible it could work on the 5th call but don't always count on it. Who knows, this may backfire on me and I won't get the credit to my account or the coupon won't be applied in the end. Who knows? All I can say is good luck. It doesn't hurt to try.

Question:

1. Order it, don't fight it. $15 after rebate.

2. Spend countless hours, get all frustrated, piss and moan to a bunch of CSR's, and get all uptight: $9 - $12 after rebate.

Is $3 really worth it? 🙂 Stop worrying so much and just be happy you are getting it for so cheap!

ProUser: I think most of here will agree its the concept of Staples and their insidious ways of business...Why offer a PM policy if you're not going to fulfill them? I would be a lot happier if they took the PM policy down. But it is there for a reason...to piss buyers like us off and they are doing a good job of it. That's what makes me want to PM even more! BAH! hehe 😛 i'm going to bed...

ProUser,
I agree with you 100% of the price thing. But I don't do it to save the $10 to $15. I do it for the fun of negotiation. If you don't want to haggle with CSRs don't do it. But if you like to negotiate prices then by all means have at it. It's amazing what you can get when you ask.

Fun negotiating? 🙂 My experiences with Staples wouldn't exactly be classified as negotiating. More like me trying to explain the concept of a molecule to a 2nd grader. Heh, but I see where you guys are coming from.

I've already had to call in 2 times to verify that they pricematched my order correctly, and applied the coupon. Both times they messed up.

My recommendation to anyone is unless you have an email confirmation of the CORRECT price-match + coupon, you give them a call!

Hate dealing with them, love their business practices of giving away coupons and merchandice for practically nothing!

Quote from Rebate Form:

"Offer not valid with any other rebates, offers or promotions"

Wouldn't this include the online coupon?

I didn't know I would have started all this with a simple "check your order comment" 🙁 I did expect staples messing the deal up somehow though. I haven't gotten in on the ordering of this but I might try locally. The manager locally will let me use online coupons. I might even get a price match by her. Staples online just isn't consistant enough for me to risk making a purchase with them, when other online vendors or staples locally will do a better job.

I want to do this deal but i'm confused a bit.

I dont want to go throught all that pricematching sh*t with Staples cause it will be hell. So i'll just use the $20 coupon and the rebate, but if i use the coupon will the rebate work?!

mine came today and i refused them......i saw what they looked like in a b & m, not bad.but kind of crappy.......

Can't buy or see anything right now because the Staples site is down (again!:Q or is that still!:|).

That site never works properly!
