Altec Lansing FX4021 2.1 - 50 shipped

Hmm...the lots of bass part scares me because while I like the punch in the chest of deep bass, I'm afraid it'll get too boomy and drown out the mids and the highs...would that be the case with these? Anyone have experience? I do like Altec Lansing's speaker systems but I just don't like how complicated this one is. My usual stance is that the more complicated a product is, the more that can go wrong with it...

In for 1. Been looking for a 2.1 system to replace my 7.1 (that I bought to play Doom 3) which takes up way too much desk space ... not to mention cords to hell. Thanks OP! 😀

lower the boom, up the EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Go excited about the iPod compatibility, but apparently it just means there's a mini-plug input to the speakers. Is there any advantage to an actual "dock" other than charging and having someplace to sit your iPod? (Or in my case, iPhone?)

Hrm, I don't even need speakers. I really shouldn't order this. I suppose I'll use the excuse that I would like to replace my older 5.1 setup with a newer 2.1 setup and that I can't beat this price.

In for one.

Thnx, in for one. My logitech 2.1s have been good to me for many years but unfortunately the plug from speakers into the sub isn't the best and it keeps on getting lose from sub vibrations and I alway lose sound. It got so bad I have to pretty much hold the plug with my foot now or no sound.

These are really sweet speakers for $50.

My remote came without a battery however ... can someone tell me please which type of battery it takes?

Thanks again 😀

I recently, finally got rid of my ACS-48's. One of the speakers was buzzing really bad, couldn't fix it, and the sub/amp enclosure was beat to hell from like 13 years of abuse (including college). I was actually kind of sad to toss them.

Replaced with Klipsch iFi. The ACS48's probably sounded better, but these are nice too and I like the ipod dock.

My dad still has a set of 48's. Still sound great, but his haven't been moved around as much as mine had been.
