Alright, who's burned dual layer DVDs?

I just ordered some dual layer Ritek DVDs for a project I'm working on (single layer just doesn't have enough space). So we'll see how compatible these things are with set top DVD players.

Has anyone here burned dual layer DVDs before?

It ain't cheap. I ordered mine from rima.com and they were $7 per DVD (I got a pack of 5). 🙁 I'm hoping the prices will drop sometime in the near future.

I just burned my first DL DVD, an 8GB movie....burned fine, both data layers are there...BUT.

In my DVD player, which plays all other recordable media fine (including DVD+RW), it PLAYS fine, you can chapter skip, but you can't fast forward or rewind...it hangs the player. Also, at the layer transition, the player hangs for about 40 seconds, then goes to the chapter AFTER the layer switch, so I lose about 6 minutes of the film...then play continues normally.

Any of you had this problem? Ways to solve it?

I think if your burner was able to set your DL DVDs to booktype, it would play better on your stand alone DVD player.
