Here is my contribution to the festivities. I'll also be making mashed potatoes right before I leave.

Nothing yet. I'm about to have breakfast. Then I'll fire up the Kamado Big Joe to start smoking some spiral ham and maybe some sausages. The steaks, wings, lobsters, oysters, mussels, and other good stuff will be later today when my sister's family arrive.

I've had king cakes before but didn't know it was called that. But I've never seen it in color combination or any of those colors.

King Cakes are really common along the Gulf Coast during Mardi Gras. It's somewhat like a large cinnamon roll and they're sometimes stuffed with things like fruit filling and/or cream cheese. They usually come with a small plastic baby Jesus which you put inside of them. When you server the cake, whoever gets the slice with the baby in it has to buy the next cake.

Got the spiral ham, cranberry pork sausages, and apple chicken sausages on the Kamado Big Joe. Using cherry wood to smoke.

I made a pumpkin pie (using real pumpkins; none of that canned crap). Here's a pre-cooked shot. The crust is all Crisco; no butter.

My answer is nothing. I tried ordering pizza, but everywhere is closed. Damned commies.

Was going to sous vide then deep-fry the turkey as a turchetta, but got stuck on a work project. Decided to auto-smoke it instead in the Traeger. 3-hour smoke, plus a few more hours at 350F with smoke. Found a nice little 12-pounder for a 95 cents a pound, good deal:

If you get the chance, definitely try some. People can get almost violent when discussing who makes the best cake and whether it's appropriate for them to be stuffed (I say yes).
